Composer

Although he began composing at a young age John did not start pursuing composing seriously until he began his Bachelor of Music at the University of Southern California and later during his Master of Music at Rice University.


His works have been performed internationally, including premieres in Japan, Cyprus, UK, and across the United States. John has received commissions from the Wabass Institute, Hal Robinson, former Principal Bassist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Andrew Beer, Concertmaster for the Auckland Philharmonia, the Harmonia Vocal Octet, and the Hathaway Brown School, among others. His compositions have been recognized with awards such as the South Carolina Music Educators Association Composition Competition, the UNK New Music Festival Composition Competition, and the ACDA USC Choral Composition Showcase.


John is also the composer for the animated series Inanimate Insanity, as well as for multiple independent films and video games.

Notable mentors and influences include Andrew Norman, Jeffrey Parola, and Sophie Mathieu.​
